Bungee Jumping with Jesus (Five Minute Friday: Risk)

It’s Friday… AGAIN?!!?

Not that I’m complainin’ of course. Yay for the weekend!Five Minute Friday

Friday is such a fun time here at 7 Days Time. Each week I link up with Lisa-Jo for Five Minute Friday. She gives us a prompt. Then we write. For five minutes flat.  Without overthinking or drafting or editing. Just letting the words flow and see what God has to say.

It’s challenging. It’s fun. It’s (usually) enlightening.

And it encourages me personally not to strive for perfection– but instead, simple and immediate obedience.

Today’s Prompt: RISK

My heart is pounding out of my chest. Beads of sweat are on my forehead. My stomach flops. I peer downward. “Dear Lord… I. do. not. want. to. do. this.”

I jump. The fear evaporates into a rush of adrenaline. I yell “THIS IS AWESOMEEEEEEE, GODDDDDDD!! Thaaannnkkkk youuuuuu!!”

Now, you will never catch me bungee jumping in real life. I have a thing about heights. And issues with jumping off of really tall things with only a rubber band around my ankles to save me. But I AM currently bungee jumping with Jesus.

Before I launched this ministry, I was nervous. Heck, I still am. Sometimes, when I forget that I am jump WITH Jesus and start thinking I am taking this risk alone, I begin to get nervous again, like the description at the beginning. Satan sees it as an opportunity to whisper half truth-lies into my heart. Back off, jerkface.

But then I remember– Oh yeah. God has called me to take this risk, put myself out there, love on/attempt to inspire complete strangers online/in person with His word. He is faithful. He will do it. I just have to show up and strap on the harness.

What risk is God asking you to take right now? Do it. Take heart and know that when you bungee jump with Jesus, He’s much stronger than just a rubber band around your ankles.

Because He has already offered to save your life. Follow after Him. And jump. Because that’s a risk worth taking.

Five Minute Friday cracks me up. I never know where the words are gonna take us. That wraps up yet another week of adventures here at 7 Days Time. What did you think of today’s post? Reading and responding to your comments brings me so much joy, just so you know 🙂 So if you feel led… Leave a comment below!

I am so thankful you are willing to be obedient and put yourself out there for whoever comes into your path. He is working through you and blessing others, including me. Bless you!!

  2. Brenda @TripleBraided

Those calls from God seem to be the riskiest, but they always lead to the greatest rewards. I feel the same way about my ministry. I love hearing how you trust Him above all else. 🙂

    • Amen. Big risk, big reward. So glad you feel the same about your ministry– it can be an adrenaline filled ride! (As long as He’s the ride operator, we are good to go.)

  3. Ha! I’m going to start using that line! “Hey Mindy…what on EARTH are you doing? Why I’m bungee jumping with Jesus, of COURSE!” LOL This was great!

  4. Thank you for inspiring me to jump…I couldn’t have done it without you and Jesus both helping me jump!

    • It’s all Jesus, my friend. I’m super proud of you Brooke– and can’t wait to see how God blesses you with all this!

  5. I love “back off jerk face”. My favorite part of Revelation: where jerk face gets thrown in the lake of fire! But I digress… I love the brain and creativity God has given you sister! I am so jumping with you these days! The risk is worth making Jesus famous, amen? Have a great weekend:)

    • Thanks, Tracy. I get pretty blunt/feisty when it comes to that jerkface… He doesn’t respond well to sweet requests apparently. Excited for the challenge that God has given us all to jump with Him. Here’s to risking for Jesus’ name and fame! Blessings, darling!

  6. Wow, what a great way to descibe it. I’m not leading a ministry but I definitely feel like in the last 10 months that I’ve also jumped into my relationship with Jesus…a long time needed jump. 🙂 I am a little behind on your blog since we went on vacation the past wk and I stepped away from the computer, but I’m catching up today!

    • Girl, it doesn’t matter if you are doing ministry, raising babies or rocking the army wife life… Jesus is certainly involved in all of those. I pray that your jump is going well!! Hold on tight, its a crazy ride!

I'd love to hear from you. Comment here.
