Blog Niche Nada– GIVEAWAY!

Keep reading for the GIVEAWAY details! ūüôā

Hi there compadres.

Long time no blog. (Ok. It’s only been like 10 days. But it feel like forever.)

It’s been an intense past week and a half unpacking, organizing, decorating (ish) and acclimating to our new home. We are plus or minus settled in at our humble little Washington abode (thank you, Jesus!) so it’s back to business as usual.

Well. Sorta.

Remember how in my “Brief Little Breather” post I told you that there were some exciting things coming up for 7 Days Time? Well, now you get to hear all about it… AND potentially win some cool prizes (Yes, plural!) for your very valuable input.

I’ve been praying about this for a while, and God is slowly and gently nudging me to move forward. I am one interview away from receiving my Spiritual Leadership Coaching Certification from Blackaby Ministries. (Yahoo!) That being said, things are going to shift a little bit here at 7 Days Time.

Whoa, WHOA, don’t panic!! I’m still gonna be blogging and bringing you little Jesus snippets three times per week… But I feel the call to expand and add a coaching dimension to this ministry. (With a website revamp.)

For the last 2 years and 400+ blog posts (seriously? That long and that many? Good job, Jesus!) I’ve been wondering what my “blog niche” was. You know what I mean… “They” (whoever “they” are) say that you MUST have a blogging niche to be successful… Which is sorta true-ish. Some folks blog on agriculture or homeschooling or domestic-crafty things or leadership or… etc… and they are very successful.

I, on the other hand, blog about life. The little things of everyday… how Jesus showed up and/or what lesson He is teaching me/wants me to share with you.

So for the longest time, I was convinced I didn’t have a “niche.” I was feeling a bit blog niche nada. ¬†I thought I just blogged on whatever. But let’s be honest. Jesus isn’t whatever.

Thus today, my friends, as I (slowly) start to make some tweaks and expansions to this ministry, I celebrate 2 years and 400+ blog posts worth of writing, plus a call to coach… And I need your help.

Right now, the “tagline” for 7 Days Time is “Limited Time. Spend it Wisely. Live for God.” I haven’t really “worked” that line lately (did you even know it existed?) and while it was sufficient for the last couple of years, things are changing up a bit.

I *think* my new tagline is going to be more active… something about finding Jesus in the everyday. But I’m stuck on what verb to use.

That’s where YOU (and the giveaway) come in.

I will be giving away TWO PRIZES! One $25 gift card to a locale/store of your choice (as long as I can access it in person or online to hook you up… AKA Target, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, the possibilities are endless.) A second lucky Jesus-lover will receive a journal and a suh-weet inky legit writing pen. (Only because I’m a nerd like that.)

So here’s how to enter… Comment below with your verb preference ¬†of the following tagline options for 7 Days Time.

A) COACHING you to find Jesus in the everyday.
B) HELPING you find Jesus in the everyday.
C) ENCOURAGING you to find Jesus in the everyday.
D) INSPIRING you to find Jesus in the everyday.
E) None of the above…. (And leave your own suggestion.)

You can be entered multiple times… Once for leaving a comment with your “choice” of tagline verbage (make it a double entry if you tell me WHY you chose that), then again if you share on Facebook, Twitter, via email etc.. Just comment to let me know that you did.

(Sidenote: Sorry the giveaway entering isn’t nice and neat and has to be done all via commenting… but Rafflecopter doesn’t work on Fun fact, right? And another reason there might be some website upgrade-age in the future.)

Oh. And the giveaway starts NOW (aka once this is posted) and ends at 12am on Sunday night/Monday morning. ¬†Winners will be announced on next Monday’s blog on August 19th.

So get to voting… Tell your friends. And get pumped for the new direction and Jesus adventures here at 7 Days Time!

Ready? GO! (And be blessed in the meantime!)

Many thanks (and fist bumps,)

“God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual¬†adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus.” ~1 Corinthians 1:8 MSG

A Latte Love (Factor of 7)

Yesterday at 5:45am, my phone alarm went off. But unlike other days as of late, I had NO problem bounding out of bed.

It was time for third month of Factor of 7. I was so excited about it, I woke up three times throughout the night to make sure I hadn’t overslept for our Jesus adventure.

As I write this, I can’t tell if my excited jitters are from the skinny caramel macchiato I had or the remnants of our Starbucks Factor of 7. (Talk about some legit Jesus Caffeine!)

So yes, yesterday my beloved and I found ourselves at McGraw housing complex Starbuck’s here on a Fort Benning. At 7:00am. Ready to bless some folks with free coffee.¬†$107 of free coffee, to be exact.

And as it has proven the last two months… It. Was. Awesome. Jesus was there– and blessed us immensely.

My beloved approached the cash register and ordered our personal drinks. (Perk of Factor of 7 experience: We get an excuse to treat ourselves to coffee/yogurt etc.) He asked the cashier/barista to break a $20 bill. (We needed a couple smaller bills to get our exact cash amount.) Needless to say, the cashier/barista looked a smidgen annoyed at our request.

But in less than thirty seconds, that all changed.

Brandon handed me the $5 bill I needed, then I stepped up to the register and told Shauna that we were going to pay for the next $107 worth of coffee that came through the line.

Her expression was PRICELESS. Her jaw dropped, eyes got big and she gasped…. “WHHAAAA… ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!”

The entire atmosphere of that little coffee shop changed quicker than you could say “double shot espresso.” For the next 45 minutes or so, Brandon and I stood at the pick-up counter, notebook and business cards in hand, watching peoples’ reactions and asking how we could pray for them.

That's us on the right. Sharing some Latte Love

In total, we were able to buy coffee/breakfast for 22 people. One of our bless-ees is having a baby in June. Another is deploying to Germany. Several families were preparing to watch their son/brother graduate from Basic Training today and tomorrow. (Fun conversations ensued when I told them that the handsome man behind me was a drill sergeant. Fortunately they weren’t in his battalion, so my beloved wasn’t one of the drills who probably made their son cry ūüėČ )

When I asked one lady how we could pray for her, she leaned in close to me, eyes misty and whispered gently, “I am a cancer survivor.” I very loudly (and enthusiastically) blurted out “WELL, PRAISE THE LORD!!” I’m sure the other customers were intrigued.

It was a fantastic way to spend part of our morning. Oh… And did we mention that a reporter from The Bayonet (the local Fort Benning newspaper) was there? She is going to run a story on our ministry in next week’s paper. (Thanks for that one, Jesus!)

Today we encourage you to share the love of Christ around you. Get creative. Pop over to the Factor of 7 page for ideas. You never know who you will bless… and how YOU will be blessed in return.

Oh, one more thing… To celebrate this successful event, we are doing a GIVEAWAY!!!¬† We are sharing a little more Latte Love with a chance for you to win a Starbuck’s gift card!

The contest starts today and will continue until the story runs next week in The Bayonet. (Approximately one week.) To enter, share this post (and/or future/past posts) with folks you know via Facebook, email, Twitter, etc. And then leave a comment here to give your reaction and how you shared.

The more you share/comment, the more times you can enter to win some of your own Latte Love!

We are so thankful that we have been called to serve in this way… More than 22 different kinds of drinks were purchased on Wednesday at McGraw Starbucks from frappuccinos to white chocolate mochas… But every single one of them was made with little Jesus Latte Love!

Caffeinated with Christ,

‚ÄúA new command I¬†give¬†you:¬†Love¬†one another. As I have¬†loved you, so you must¬†love¬†one another.”
–John 13:34

Factor of 7: Barrett Keene & Go Walk America

I remember when I first met Barrett Keene.

It was May 2002. (UG. That was nearly 10 years ago. HOW did we get this old?) I had just finished my sophomore year of high school My friend Melissa and I were sitting in McCain Auditorium in Manhattan, Kansas at  State FFA convention. Some dude poked his head into our row and  started a conversation.

I looked down at the words that were embroidered on his nifty blue corduroy jacket. “Barrett Keene…” Why did that sound so familiar? Suddenly, I remembered– we memorized his name in ag class… because he was a NATIONAL FFA OFFICER. (insert fake angelic worship light/sound here: aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!)

Honestly, I don’t remember much of the conversation, mainly because I was in awe. I mean, in the FFA world, National Officers were like a celebrity, at least to me. (Little did I know that eight years later, one of my bridesmaids would be a past National Officer.)

The only thing I remember from that conversation was Barrett talking about oranges (because he was from Florida) and how he introduced me to the phrase “Mamma Jamma,” which I admittedly still use on occasion. I also knew this dude was gonna be a big deal.

What I didn’t know was that he was gonna be a big deal for Jesus.

Barrett is now a Ph.D. student at Cornell and has given me permission to feature his story as a “Factor of 7.” He is walking across America to raise awareness for the 145 million orphaned children around the world. Yeah. Walking. Across America. That’s like 3,475 miles from Miami to San Francisco. It is schedule to take about 9-ish months. This is big, people.

He is making news as he walk’s in Jesus’ footsteps of service. Check out the video at the link below for the clip introducing his mission on CBS Miami.

Go Walk America: From Miami to San Fran

Pretty cool, huh?

I have been following his progress wanted to give his mission a shout out… we can all help with the cause in a few different ways.

1. Pray for him– health, safety, ability to share the message

2. Check out the Go Walk America Facebook page. Like it and follow along.

3. Share the message with your friends and family.

4. Consider purchasing a uniform (or more ūüôā ) for $20 each… check out for more details. You can click on “donate” and make it happen!

5. If you or someone you know has a camper and/or RV and/or car ¬†to donate for this trip so he has somewhere to sleep… Um, yeah, think about it ūüôā

6. Walk along for a small sliver of the journey and raise funds with him. (Again, check out the Go Walk America Website…)

I never knew that a conversation about oranges and FFA would resurface as a pretty cool Jesus movement a decade later. Barrett’s heart for God is an inspiration. As he walks those 3,475 steps don’t be afraid to take your own steps in the name of Jesus, wherever Christ might lead.

Staying in Step,

“If the LORD delights in a man‚Äôs way,¬†he makes his steps firm…” Psalm 37:23

PS: Don’t forget that the Jesus Caffeine Giveaway is still in progress… See Friday’s post here for details… And don’t forget to comment/share to enter to win!

Jesus Caffeine

What gets you up out of the bed in the morning?

I am sure many of my more cynical or sarcastic readers would say “My stinkin’ alarm clock” or “That job I committed to working at” or “My extremely motivated 3-year-old child.” Perhaps¬†I should rephrase that…

So… What gets you excited and happily out of bed in the morning?

What are the things that you could stay up late, get up early and spend hours talking about?

If you had all the time and money in the world with no limitations, what would you do?

This, my friends, is what we in the leadership teaching realm refer to as your PASSION.

Passions can come in all shapes and sizes… For me, my passion comes in the form of Jesus. He is like my caffeine. He gets me up in the morning. I often lie awake at night thinking about His wonders. I am ever thankful and crazy in love with Him.

God has done some AMAZING things in my life the last few months. Since my call to ministry last July, the blessings and lessons have simply been overwhelming.

One blessing in particular is this new personal ministry, 7 Days Time. I launched it 11 days ago… and it has exploded in more ways than I can imagine. Already. Wow, right? When I was going through the steps of creating it for God, I was up early (aka like 4am) and awake late. It was all I could think about. I prayed non-stop. This, ladies and gentlemen, is MY Jesus caffeine.

So in honor of the incredible success of 7 Days Time, we are going to celebrate. With caffeine. And Jesus. (How appropriate.)

WE ARE DOING A GIVEAWAY!!! Ready? Here we go…

The prize pack will include: A Starbucks gift card, a sweet journal (that I selfishly am excited to go pick out for our lucky winner) and the book “Guerilla Lovers” by Vince Antonucci. (It is one of my latest and most favoritest reads.)

The contest will close next Tuesday night (That would be February 21 at 11:59pm EST.)

“Well Sharita,” you might be saying. “This all sounds AMAZING. But how do I enter?”

So glad you asked, dear reader. ¬†You can enter in several ways… and for every way you share/participate, your name gets put in the drawing… Again!

1. Comment on this blog sharing your passion… The sky is the limit. Don’t be shy.

2. Comment on this blog letting me know you have liked the 7 Days Time Facebook page. See the “like box” widget on the sidebar. (If you have already liked it, that’s great… just let me know and I will get your name entered again!)

3. Share this post on your Facebook wall letting your friends know and/or inviting them to like the Facebook page. (That would be the third time your name gets entered)

4. Either retweet one of my 7 Days Time tweets  OR if you are a non-twitter-er, send an email to your friends/family sharing the word about this ministry. Then comment on the blog to let me know you did that!

YOU COULD BE ENTERED UP TO 4 different times. Wow. Pretty good odds to score some caffeine, eh?

So excited to see this ministry continue to blossom… not for me, but for God. We are sharing His message. We are sharing His Passion. A Passion that bled and died for us to give us hope and future.

Let’s get passionate about this, readers. Grab your pen, your computer and your coffee cup… Time to the world know about our awesome Jesus Caffeine!!

Jacked up on Jesus,

“Celebrate¬†God. Sing together‚ÄĒeveryone! All you honest hearts, raise the roof!” –Psalm 32:11
