Remodel coming your way!

Hi friends… Sorry to disappoint, but there’s no Five Minute Friday post today.

HOWEVER… I did want to share with you some super cool news.

The reason I am not cranking out new fresh posts at the moment is because 1) I am at home with family in KS and 2) I am working overtime transferring these 441 previous blog posts to my NEW website. (I want to allow PLENTY of time for this major chunk of the project, since I don’t really know what I am doing and I don’t want to “miss” any fresh posts not getting transferred to the new site.)

For the last 2+ months, I have been learning (and fervently praying) how to do website design. I know I could have hired it out, but as I have mentioned numerous times here before, I am still working for Jesus dollars and didn’t have that moolah on hand.

Plus, God told me to do it myself (with His help, of course.) So that’s what I’ve been doing in my “spare” time as of late.

That being said, for the next couple-ish weeks, I will be sharing some of my favorite posts from the archives as I transfer my material/domain and put the finishing touches on my new site. (SO. EXCITED!)

Hang with me, ok? I promise there are some super duper coolio things coming your way with this remodel– the new website isn’t just a blog, but I hope it is going to be an incredible resource for you.

Oh. And there’s gonna be some free downloadables for my awesome subscribers.

And did I mention I will be doing my biggest giveaway EVER?? As in, a couple hundred bucks worth of free stuff/services?!?!!

Stay tuned for some fresh Jesus love here at 7 Days Time… Launch date is currently set for the day after my birthday on November 18th. So in the meantime, I pray you enjoy reading some of my favorite posts the next few days 🙂

Thanks a million for your prayers and support!

Go Time with God,

“Count yourself lucky, how happy you must be— you get a fresh start, your slate’s wiped clean.” ~Psalm 32:1 MSG

How serious are we about this new level of ministry, fresh website included? Well, let's just say my Beloved and I are committed... (Yes. That's a real tattoo. And yes, we both have one. And yes, we might be a little nuts.)

A Four-Letter-Word (Guest Blog)

The room was dark. All was quiet. But my mind was swirling… Various items of my “To Do” list were zipping through my head… Unpack boxes. Call the Internet company. Paint. Hang Curtains. Blog. Make the weekly menu. Update Budget.

My heart started to race and a sinking feeling of panic overtook me. There was no way sleep was coming any time soon. But then suddenly… I heard His Voice…

Hey friends! I am guest blogging over at one of my dude-reader/writer blogs today… Pop on over to Brent’s site to see the rest of the story  (and find out what four-letter-word I’m talking about… It’s not inappropriate, I promise.)

As always, thanks for swinging by… Blessing and prayers to you all.

Resting in Him,

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” ~Matthew 11:28

Blog Niche Nada– GIVEAWAY!

Keep reading for the GIVEAWAY details! :-)

Keep reading for the GIVEAWAY details! 🙂

Hi there compadres.

Long time no blog. (Ok. It’s only been like 10 days. But it feel like forever.)

It’s been an intense past week and a half unpacking, organizing, decorating (ish) and acclimating to our new home. We are plus or minus settled in at our humble little Washington abode (thank you, Jesus!) so it’s back to business as usual.

Well. Sorta.

Remember how in my “Brief Little Breather” post I told you that there were some exciting things coming up for 7 Days Time? Well, now you get to hear all about it… AND potentially win some cool prizes (Yes, plural!) for your very valuable input.

I’ve been praying about this for a while, and God is slowly and gently nudging me to move forward. I am one interview away from receiving my Spiritual Leadership Coaching Certification from Blackaby Ministries. (Yahoo!) That being said, things are going to shift a little bit here at 7 Days Time.

Whoa, WHOA, don’t panic!! I’m still gonna be blogging and bringing you little Jesus snippets three times per week… But I feel the call to expand and add a coaching dimension to this ministry. (With a website revamp.)

For the last 2 years and 400+ blog posts (seriously? That long and that many? Good job, Jesus!) I’ve been wondering what my “blog niche” was. You know what I mean… “They” (whoever “they” are) say that you MUST have a blogging niche to be successful… Which is sorta true-ish. Some folks blog on agriculture or homeschooling or domestic-crafty things or leadership or… etc… and they are very successful.

I, on the other hand, blog about life. The little things of everyday… how Jesus showed up and/or what lesson He is teaching me/wants me to share with you.

So for the longest time, I was convinced I didn’t have a “niche.” I was feeling a bit blog niche nada.  I thought I just blogged on whatever. But let’s be honest. Jesus isn’t whatever.

Thus today, my friends, as I (slowly) start to make some tweaks and expansions to this ministry, I celebrate 2 years and 400+ blog posts worth of writing, plus a call to coach… And I need your help.

Right now, the “tagline” for 7 Days Time is “Limited Time. Spend it Wisely. Live for God.” I haven’t really “worked” that line lately (did you even know it existed?) and while it was sufficient for the last couple of years, things are changing up a bit.

I *think* my new tagline is going to be more active… something about finding Jesus in the everyday. But I’m stuck on what verb to use.

That’s where YOU (and the giveaway) come in.

I will be giving away TWO PRIZES! One $25 gift card to a locale/store of your choice (as long as I can access it in person or online to hook you up… AKA Target, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, the possibilities are endless.) A second lucky Jesus-lover will receive a journal and a suh-weet inky legit writing pen. (Only because I’m a nerd like that.)

So here’s how to enter… Comment below with your verb preference  of the following tagline options for 7 Days Time.

A) COACHING you to find Jesus in the everyday.
B) HELPING you find Jesus in the everyday.
C) ENCOURAGING you to find Jesus in the everyday.
D) INSPIRING you to find Jesus in the everyday.
E) None of the above…. (And leave your own suggestion.)

You can be entered multiple times… Once for leaving a comment with your “choice” of tagline verbage (make it a double entry if you tell me WHY you chose that), then again if you share on Facebook, Twitter, via email etc.. Just comment to let me know that you did.

(Sidenote: Sorry the giveaway entering isn’t nice and neat and has to be done all via commenting… but Rafflecopter doesn’t work on Fun fact, right? And another reason there might be some website upgrade-age in the future.)

Oh. And the giveaway starts NOW (aka once this is posted) and ends at 12am on Sunday night/Monday morning.  Winners will be announced on next Monday’s blog on August 19th.

So get to voting… Tell your friends. And get pumped for the new direction and Jesus adventures here at 7 Days Time!

Ready? GO! (And be blessed in the meantime!)

Many thanks (and fist bumps,)

“God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus.” ~1 Corinthians 1:8 MSG

Everyday Jesus: Coincidence?

Ever have those friends or people in your life that you just simply ADORE? I do– and today’s guest post is brought to you by just one of those such people… Kelli is not only my dear friend, but she is also a mentor, coach, “boss,” and encourager in my life. I have been privileged to work alongside her for over a year and a half, in which time we have laughed together, cried together and grown in Christ together.

She is a talented speaker and writer– so please show her lots of love (both here and at her site via leaving comments) as she shares her heart today on the latest and greatest edition of “Everyday Jesus!”

Be Blessed,

kelli rainbow

I remember running late taking my kids to school one morning several years ago. I was frustrated. They were in tears. Instead of speeding and risking getting a ticket or being involved in an accident and making my morning even worse, I decided to slow down. We were just going to have to be late. And I began to pray that God would show me Himself. “God, give me patience. Make me a better parent. Help my kids get their act together!” (You know, the usual prayers when you are late and frustrated.) Out of nowhere, a peacock came out of the woods and began to cross the road. Seriously. I thought I was losing my mind. I live in mid-Georgia. Last time I checked, we don’t have peacocks running wild.

Then I felt like God say to me… “Here is your gift this morning. Slow down and search for me. I am always at work. Look for me.”

Was my prayer for God to show Himself and a random peacock crossing a rural Georgia road a coincidence? No, my friend, that was a God-incidence. God showed up, He showed out, and I was aware enough to see Him.

Really, these God-incidences happen all the time.

Like the time I was telling my son that he the only two things that he had to do was to listen and obey. That was it! And God whispered, “Yeah, that’s it. That’s all I need for you to do.” Easier said than done, huh?

Or the time when I dropped my church ministry business card into a drawing at a restaurant and someone new to the community who was looking for a church saw it, pulled it out, and now calls our church his home.

Do we see Him? Do we seek Him? Everyday Jesus is at work… around us, in us, through us, and for us.

“When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.”  ~Jeremiah 29:13

Let’s not miss the gifts God has for us in the everyday things… your children’s laughter. A friend’s conversation. A moment with your husband. A meal with your family. Practice looking for Him in the everyday. The seemingly mundane. The ordinary.

And you might just see a peacock crossing the road.

Some Comments On Commenting

Aight, beloved readers… (That means “All right” for those of you not currently residing in the south.) Today, for essentially the first time in my blog history, I write to you from atop my soapbox.

No, we will not be discussing politics. (Yikes.) And no, I will not be preaching about the “hard stuff” from the Bible. Instead, I am going to share with you my comments… on commenting.

Yes, I am writing about commenting on blogs. Those of you in the “blogging community” will <hopefully> understand and support this idea… but for you beloved readers who don’t have a blog of your own, I just want to share with you how important it is to comment on blogs.

You can't actually comment "here" per say... but you can scroll to the bottom and comment. Just sayin'.

Before I you think I am an ungrateful blogging heifer, please know that I am INCREDIBLY thankful for my loyal followers who have the courage to comment on my blog (or other folks’ blogs.) Seriously. Ever since I  “launched” this ministry two months ago and migrated to WordPress, my blog comments have been tremendous compared to my old site. So on that note, here are a few facts you might not know about commenting on our blogs…

1. Your comments keep us going. This is so, so, SO important, especially for us faith bloggers that are currently working for Jesus dollars, not world dollars. Blogging, especially daily, is freaking hard. Yes, it can be incredibly rewarding. But little tidbits in the form of your comments keep us pressing forward in the name of Jesus when our brains are mush and our fingers are sick of typing. Second to God, YOU are who we are writing for!!

2. We LOVE hearing your thoughts. When you respond to our post(s), it encourages our hearts that people actually DO read our stuff. Yeah, our stats might say people are stopping by, but a few comments mean more to us than a hundred page views. If you comment, it helps us to believe even more deeply in the mission to which we have been called. Plus, we love the interaction– writing to a silent screen can get a little monotonous. And if we talk to ourselves while we write (especially in public places like Starbucks) people think we are nuts. So save us the embarrassment and talk to us through the screen! 🙂

3. Your comments don’t have to be “profound.” If I EVER figure out who started THIS nasty little rumor, I am going to cut them. Or at least judo chop them in the neck. Seriously. Yeah, we love it when comments reflect/respond to something we actually wrote (because it means you actually read it) but your comments don’t have to be profound. We aren’t expecting a greek translation or a Scripture quote or a profound revelation that changes our lives (although sometimes that does happen, which is awesome.) But sometimes, just a simple “Amen sister!” Or “Great thoughts!” or “Really spoke to me!” can make all the difference.  We comment on Facebook statuses and pictures all the time… why not take 14 extra seconds, comment on the actual blog and make it permanent? We appreciate ANY comments we receive on our blogs! (Except spam… we despise blog spam. It’s almost as yucky as the luncheon meat stuff.)

4. Your comments help our “legitness” factor. Yeah, so I made up that word… but seriously. When others view a blog, one of the first things they probably do is glance down at the bottom to see how many comments have been made. I certainly do that. If there are a lot of comments, that makes me think either A) Whatever the blogger wrote is super legit B) They have such an incredible platform that they could blog about ketchup and people would still love it or C) They are paying people under the table to leave comments. (I am pretty sure options A & B are the most feasible here.) Seriously though– if a “big dawg” publisher, minister, blogger, whoever lands on our page… Comments can make or break an opportunity that might lurking around the corner.

Blogging is like wearing a different outfit each day… although in our world, they are never going to be the SAME outfit. Sure, there are going to be occasions where a blog post might be the equivalent to t-shirt and sweats, but most days, we bloggers are hopeful that someone will notice and comment. Think about how you feel each time you sport a new haircut or outfit and someone positively mentions it to you… It can keep you going for the rest of the day! Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. And for those of us in the Jesus blogging world– we love warm and fuzzy. (Or feisty and festive. Whatever.)

Finally, we know that God encourages us throughout Scripture. From the beautiful and romantic words of Song of Solomon to the promises of Jesus, He offers encouragement to keep us going. And while those reminders keep us reaching for Jesus, sometimes we need a little earthly help from our readers to have the courage to face our keyboard again as we share our hearts.

Aight… (it’s slacking grammar day if you can’t tell…) I hope the above case for the importance of commenting on blogs has empowered you to take heart and reach out to those of us who have been called to blog for Jesus… And before you roll your eyes thinking this is a desperate attempt for feel-good moments, please note that this is not a plea for more comments on my blog. If you don’t believe me, comment on some of these other Jesus gals’ blogs if you don’t feel called to comment on 7 Days Time. It’s not about the numbers… It’s about the mission.

Check out (and comment on– hint, hint!) these other blogs…

WHEW! Aight, I need to click publish before the view from my soapbox makes me so dizzy I pass out (or chicken out.)

Oh… and just in case this post actually stuck… feel free to leave a comment here. 🙂
